The Diocesan Museum presents the exhibition of the Lamentation over the Dead Christ from the Vatican Museums, which serves as the starting point for a reflection that goes beyond art and history, becomes spiritual and provides us with the opportunity to dwell on the theme of the Passion in the time of Lent and Easter. The painting was the top panel of the Pesaro altarpiece, an extraordinary masterpiece, considered a turning point in the artist’s production and in Venetian painting as a whole. The tour continues with the section Standing in front of Bellini – Four contemporary artists in conversation with a masterpiece, which showcases the works of LETIA Letizia Cariello, Emma Ciceri, Francesco De Grandi and Andrea Mastrovito, who have worked on the themes evoked by Bellini’s masterpiece to prove how deeply it can touch the heart of the artists of our time.
