Fondazione ICA Milano presents the solo exhibition La Casa Dentro by Formafantasma, curated by Alberto Salvadori. The exhibition project brings together a body of work specifically conceived for the occasion through which themes of personal identity and its relationship to collective memory are explored. The selection of furniture and light objects conceived for the Fondazione ICA Milano critically addresses both the design and conceptual legacy of modernism, highlighting its roots in a strongly conservative idea imbued with masculinity. In a dialogue between architectural ideology and the lived experience of the domestic environment, made up of humble and decorative objects, Formafantasma explores the dynamics that lead to the imposition of a canon by relating it to the sense of nostalgia that derives from what has been lost. The designers' reflection and proposal both suggest a vision leaning towards the future, going beyond established canons and in the absence of retromania.
