On the occasion of ArtWeek 2023, original drawings by more than 100 20th-century artists, including Enrico Baj, Georg Baselitz, Renato Guttuso, Keith Haring, Jannis Kounellis, Milo Manara, Ottavio Missoni, Mimmo Paladino, Hugo Pratt, and Ettore Sottsass, recently donated by Sandro Pezzoli to the Castello Sforzesco Drawings Cabinet, will be presented to the public for the first time. This graphic nucleus complements the donation of 50 pieces of 20th- and 21st-century art and design glass, exhibited in the Sala Castellana of the Castello Sforzesco Museums.

Cave of sounds

Come and experience Cave of Sounds, is an interactive sound installation composed of eight instruments organized in a circle, in the center of which there is a bright hub. Each instrument is designed to work alone or with others and allows everyone to create music using body movements according to their own time and rhythm. We play instruments freely, without mediation or guidance, in order to create a relationship and find a resonance in personal, individual and collective expression. The installation is hosted at the Museum thanks to the collaboration with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti

Drawings that sound, messages that come alive with a touch: with conductive paint, foil and copper wires let’s create a collective design, exploring the cooperative dimension of sound at the intersection point between technology, science, art and personal expression. The workshop was born from the residence of the artist Tim Murray Browne and from the exploration of his digital installation Cave of Sound exhibited at the Museum. In every metamorphosis of the human being, death is always by the side of life. Between dance and performing arts, Dewey Dell's choreographic research is inspired by images from art history and the behaviors of the animal kingdom. Composed of Teodora Castellucci, Agata Castellucci, Vito Matera and Demetrio Castellucci, the company confronts Igor Stravinsky's Le sacre du printemps, a milestone of musical literature and endless visual source. The mystery of spring and the violent coming of life take place on stage, in a conflict between sound and vision, between the powerful seduction of music and the furious energy of bodies. A surprising new work by one of the most original companies on the contemporary scene.

Designed specifically for Chiaravalle – the only neighborhood in Milan separated from the urban fabric and surrounded by the countryside –, Superpaesaggio is an experimental project that finds its common thread in sound. A collective sound performance realized while walking along a listening path in the Chiaravalle environment.
Guided by sound artists Nicola Ratti, Attila Faravelli and Enrico Malatesta, the participants will go to form a sound corpus made of movements, pauses, intensities and variable and different timbres. A journey of discovery and unraveling in search of new and surprising points of contact with the places that surround us.
